NASSAU, BAHAMAS – It was a scary situation that ended with a family being left with nearly nothing to their name after a sudden fire destroyed their Bimini Avenue home.

The family tagged Our News in a facebook post showing heart-wrenching images from the fire as they appeal for assistance.

Asia Forbes once lived in the fire-stricken two-bedroom apartment, sharing how the situation escalated quickly.

She says she went with her mother a few corners down the road when they got word that a fire was engulfing their home.

Asia Forbes – Fire Victim

“We got a call from one of her friends, and they said that the neighbor in the front house was on fire, and after we hung up from that call, someone else called and they said our house was on fire…,” she said.

Forbes says that’s all she remembers from that tragic situation.

Her brother and sister were inside the home when the fire lit, and relatives tell us they tried to extinguish the blaze with water but were unsuccessful.

No one was injured in the blaze, however as for the damage:

“Basically everything was lost…my passport, my brother’s passport, my mother’s passport were saved, but her bank card, her clothes, my clothes, her NIB cards, they were in her wallet, and her wallet got burned,” Forbes said.

Loved ones tell us Asia’s mother was unable to speak with us Monday morning as she was extremely emotional over the entire ordeal.

Her sister Candie Frazier shared how they’ve lived there for more than five years, and that she’s grateful to residents who stepped in to help extinguish the blaze and others who have chipped in:

“Yes, we would like to thank the public for sharing my post on behalf of my sister…my niece, and my nephew. We would like to thank you all because you know in a trying time like this, it’s today for me and today for you. So, thank you all for sharing….”

“She needs basically, honestly, everything at this time. At this time, they can reach me; my phone number is 815-0213. They can reach me on social media at too sweet Candie Frazier…,” Fraizer said.
