NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A family is seeking answers after their mother died under suspicious circumstances.

Johnson and her sister Shante Taylor last saw their mother, 47-year-old Patrice Elliot, in the early morning hours of June 4th, when she left their home on Exuma Street and spent the night at a home on Wellington Street.

The women expected their mother to return in the morning, but they would never see her alive again.

On June 5th the woman’s body was reportedly found in that Wellington Street home.

The women say they went to the morgue to identify her but were only allowed to view a picture of the body, which had already started to decay.

The death is difficult for the family of 12 who lives in a 2 bedroom home. Their mother had six kids, the oldest 30 and the youngest ten. She was responsible for the rent, and none of the other adults in the home are working.

Our News reached out to RBPF Commissioner Paul Rolle about the situation.

He says the matter was classified as sudden death, and that the family should have gotten the death certificate with the cause of death. However, the woman’s daughters say that hasn’t happened.
