Board Certified Dermatologist Dr. Jamie Davis says it is not just about the potential allergic reactions and irritation, but also the potential cancer risks.
You see when a hair straightening solution is applied to your hair, followed by the heating process to seal the solution, the formaldehyde in the product is released into the air as a gas.
If the salon is not properly ventilated, you, your stylist, and others in the salon are at risk of inhaling the released formaldehyde.
The simple answer she says, is to embrace the natural.
