U.S.A. – It was decision day for Rhiaughn Ferguson and after fielding several offers, he’s headed to Odessa, Texas.

Ferguson announced his commitment to the odessa college wranglers earlier this week at his Downey Christian High Campus in Orlando, Florida.

Last season, the Wranglers finished 26-9, earned a seven seed in the NJCAA Tournament and advanced to the quarterfinals.

He chose the Wranglers over a host of other junior college offers including – Chipola, Miami Dade, Trinity Valley, and others.

Ferguson has been putting up a string of impressive performances this summer on the AAU circuit, most recently for the Florida Rebels at the Nike Eybl Peach Jam in North Augusta, South Carolina.

The 6’8″ 215 pound forward out of Downey Christian High School out of Orlando, Florida averaged 13.4 points, 10.7 rebounds, and 1.2 blocks per game during the regular season.

Baseball

Toby Simmons had a strong showing in the Intercounty Baseball League All-Star game.

Representing Team South, Simmons went 2-4 at the plate and scored two runs at the event in Hamilton, Ontario.

Despite his efforts, Team South came up just short — falling to Team North by a final score of 5-4.

Simmons and the London Majors return to regular-season play this week and looks to carry his all-star momentum into the back half of the season.

On season, he is hitting .315 and has scored 27 runs with 14 stolen bases.

Meanwhile, Chicago Cubs prospect and Knoxville Smokies infielder BJ Murray Jr. has become one of the top run producers in double-a baseball this season.

Murray currently leads the Southern League with 57 rbis through mid-July, out of the All-Star break.

The 25-year-old switch-hitter has posted a slash line of .233/.346/.392 over 86 games, adding 13 home runs to his total while driving in runs at a career-best clip.

Already surpassing his 2024 output where he finished with 43 rbis and 11 homers in 103 games.

Murray’s jump in production is a strong indicator of his continued development as a hitter in the Cubs’ organization.

He’s raised his on-base percentage by nearly 40 points from last season.

Murray has had several milestones for the cubs this season – early in the year, he blasted the first home run ever at the new covenant health park, and in june, He sent the crowd into a frenzy with a game winning grand slam.

Poker

The World Series of Poker Paradise is back, and bigger than ever.

The Atlantis Resort will once again host the World Series of Poker’s winter tournament series this December 4-18.

WSOP Paradise will be held at the recently renovated Atlantis Casino, following a $250 million resort-wide transformation.

The event will be headlined by a record-shattering $60 million guaranteed super main event, the largest prize guarantee in live poker history.

The third annual WSOP Paradise is hosted in partnership with GG Poker and Triton.

Last year’s super main event drew nearly 2,000 entrants, this year, officials say they plan to go even bigger.
