NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The Samuel P. Haven Jr. National High School Soccer Championships are into the finals, and the titles were on the line.

Senior Girls
The Lyford Cay Dragons are through to the final after a hard-fought 2-1 win over the C.R. Walker Knights.

The defending champions advanced thanks to goals from Issa Bournas and Storm D’Arville.

In the other half of the draw, the Queen’s College Comets advanced on penalties, edging Grand Bahama’s Bishop Michael Eldon 4-2.

Senior Boys
It was a huge day for the Dragons program, which continued its dominance by pulling off a major upset over the reigning BAISS and national champions.

Lyford Cay International School (LCIS) secured a 4-1 win over Windsor School.

The Dragons got two goals from Joshua O’Brien, with Jack Massey and Camrynn Bethell each adding one of their own.

Frednel Felix and John Brize led Government High School to the final with a narrow 3-2 win over the St. George’s Jaguars out of Grand Bahama.

More Athletes Qualify for Outdoor Championships

The regional prelims continue for the NCAA Track and Field Outdoor Championships, and more Bahamians are looking to punch their tickets to Eugene.

Anthaya Charlton continues to rewrite the record books for the Florida Gators, with her breakout season continuing at the East Prelims.

Her time also met the qualification standard for the World Championships in Tokyo.

In the long jump, Charlton finished third with a mark of 6.52 meters.

On the track, she broke a 10-year-old Gator record in the 100 meters, clocking 11.05 seconds in the prelims.

Meanwhile, Javonya Valcourt of the Tennessee Volunteers won her 400m heat in 52.22 seconds.

She advanced to Saturday’s quarterfinal, where she’ll need a top-12 finish to move on.

Chisholm Returns on Rehab Assignment

Jazz Chisholm Jr. was back on the field, and back in pinstripes, but not New York Yankee pinstripes. This time, it was the Somerset Patriots’ pinstripes.

Recovering from an oblique injury, Chisholm was designated for a rehab assignment with the Patriots of the Double-A Eastern League.

In five innings of play, he went 2-for-3 with a double and scored two runs in the Patriots’ commanding 12-0 win over the Akron RubberDucks at TD Bank Ballpark in New Jersey.

Defensively, Chisholm played third base, a position he appeared at in 45 games last season following his trade to New York.
