NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Since the launch of those 17 Free National Movement (FNM) candidates last week, there has been a lot of controversy over some of the candidates ratified for the various constituencies.

One of those constituencies was South Beach, whose candidate is former North Abaco MP and Foreign Affairs Minister Darren Henfield.

Former FNM Senator Jamal Moss said he believes he is the better choice.

Addressing the issue on Tuesday, Sands telling us he will meet with the association tonight.

Despite his disappointment, Moss says he accepts the party’s decision to nominate Henfield, adding some people in South Beach weren’t aware of the decision and felt confused when they found out the news.

Sands says over 100 people came forward vying to represent the party in one of the 39 seats in Parliament, acknowledging that many will be rightly disappointed.

Sands says the party will not reveal the findings of the vetting committee but said should the party win the next election, there would be a role for those that weren’t ratified.

The FNM chairman doesn’t believe this shows a party divided, but a member disappointed.

Many questioned familiar faces in the 17 ratified candidates like Darren Henfield, Elsworth Johnson, and Marvin Dames.
