NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Former Attorney General Allyson Maynard-Gibson is urging government to pass legislation giving Bahamian men and women an equal chance to pass citizenship on to their children and spouses.

During a luncheon address to the members of the Rotary Club of West Nassau, the King’s Counsel sharing that passing the bill has impacts on the country that are not usually discussed.

When asked by a club member about referendums in the past that rejected the matter, Gibson says she believes public opinion may have been swayed by a number of factors including a particular community which may have confused the meaning of the proposed bill.
