Former BPL Director Refutes Being Fired

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – One of three Bahamas Power and Light directors mentioned in an Our News report about terminations at the power company is refuting that he was fired.

Andrew Darville, Former Director of Energy Supply, is saying he is retiring from BPL. Fired or retired, when Our News posed the question about the firings to BPL, Chairman of the Board, Pedro Rolle, Rolle did not refute that the men were fired.

Rolle said: “These are internal matters when we determine what exactly is best for BPL. And these are decisions we are making every single day as we attempt to make BPL more nimble, more efficient, so your BPL bill doesn’t go up. We make these decisions from time to time. In the cases you are talking about, in these three cases, they are all in an attempt to make us more efficient to ensure we can service the public in a better way.”
