NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A man on bail in relation the 2016 shooting of a policeman during an attempted armed robbery has been fined $3,500 for breaching his bail curfew.

Tahnarze Ferguson, 28, will spend nine months in prison if he does not pay the fine. Additionally, he was placed on probation for 18 months.

If Ferguson is convicted of any offense while on probation, he will be jailed for one year.

The court heard that Ferguson breached his curfew on seven occasions between November 2, 2022 through January 8.

In October 2016, Ferguson was charged with the attempted murder and attempted armed robbery of Sergeant Brent Dixon, who was an aide to then-Prime Minister Perry Christie.

Police said Dixon was accosted by two gunmen who demanded cash soon after he pulled up to a home at Odle Corner on September 5, 2016.

Dixon was shot during the struggle that followed.
