NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The former prime minister coming to the defense of the group of protestors who sought to make their voices heard during the recent CARICOM meeting but ended up in handcuffs.

The former prime minister has accused the Davis administration of silencing the voice of Bahamians.

Former Prime Minister Dr. Hubert Minnis taking time out of his contribution to the mid-year budget debate to blast the Davis administration, after protestors were arrested following an attempt to speak out at CARICOM last month.

Coalition of Independents Leader Lincoln Bain and 17 of his members were arraigned for a number of offenses.

The former prime minister says Bahamians were upset when their efforts were blocked, contending the “New Day” government didn’t want to hear the protestors.

Dr. Minnis’ comments riled up government Members of Parliament, who pointed out the state of emergency imposed by the Minnis-led government in response to the pandemic.
