NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Local Attorney-at-law, Osman Johnson coming to the defense of former FTX CEO Bankman-Fried who spent his first night behind bars at The Bahamas Department of Correctional Services.

Johnson who says he is familiar with extradition proceedings, says that based on the statement issued by the attorney general, unless there was a formal request made by the United States for Bankman-Fried’s extradition, he should have not been arrested.

Johnson says in a small jurisdiction like The Bahamas, the letter of the law must be upheld especially when dealing with high-profile matters like the FTX debacle.

Johnson adding that he believes Bankman-Fried should be put under house arrest.

The former FTX CEO was denied bail and is remanded to BDOCS until February 8th. Johnson explains what he thinks “should” happen next.
