NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Cholera cases are on the rise in Haiti after years of no recorded cases. It’s raising concerns of a wider outbreak.

Pastor Abner Meus, who is from the Haitian community in Grand Bahama is calling on The Bahamas to assist with a simple word of prayer as he says the situation is chaotic.

The bacterial disease that usually spreads through contaminated water can sometimes be life-threatening.

Mues says a lot of Haitians do not have access to fresh water.

To make matters worse, he says when people attempt to go out of their homes – whether to the store, hospital or airport – they are being held up, robbed and in some cases even kidnapped.

Abner says it’s something the government or police cannot control, but when Haitian nationals are in The Bahamas, most of them obey the law.

The pastor is asking Bahamians to pray for Haiti.
