NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A man of love, care and service to his country. That’s how former Social Services, Information and Broadcasting Minister Obie Wilchcombe has been described.

While it’s been up for debate whether or not now is the time to have the discussion. Many across The Bahamas have been asking who now be at the helm of the West Grand Bahama and Bimini constituency as they say Wilchcombe was dedicated to the people.

PLP Chairman Fred Mitchell has promised residents in the West Grand Bahama and Bimini constituency that a fit and proper person will be selected to represent the area.

Grand Bahama resident Ricardo Lightbourne says this is a wake up call for the West Grand Bahama and Bimini constituency.

It has been announced that Prime Minister Philip Davis will temporarily assume the role as minister of social services, information and broadcasting. According to the Communications Director in the Office of the Prime Minister Latrae Rahming, a formal appointment of a substantive minister will be made at the appropriate time.

These Grand Bahamian residents say the focus should be focusing on Wilchcombe’s legacy.
