GRAND BAHAMA – Grand Bahama residents are reacting to government’s plan to take control of the Grand Bahama Power Company and opinions are split.

The proposal would see a state-owned company borrow $280 million to acquire the utility with hopes of lowering electricity costs.

Some residents say the move could work if properly managed. While others remain skeptical, raising concerns about execution and timing, especially with a general election approaching.

Still, there are those who believe government control could give residents a stronger voice in how the company operates.
