GRAND BAHAMA, BAHAMAS – Police in Grand Bahama taking part in an island-wide walkabout to highlight their presence in the community.

Heads of various divisions within the police force shared their goals for 2023 as well as some of their concerns. They are now calling on the community to partner with the police in the fight against crime.

Officers from the northern Bahamas conducted a walkabout, Thursday, on Grand Bahama. The walkabout began in west Grand Bahama and ended at the Criminal Investigation Department in Freeport.

Officers were out and about conducting road checks and provided motorists with safety tips.

The effort is all part of the commissioner of police’s policing plan for 2023. Supt. William Rahming, officer in charge of the West End Division, explained how police efforts reduced crime last year in the western district.

Chief Superintendent Jeremy Henfield, officer in charge of the Eight Mile Rock division, admits there are some hot spots and firearms are a concern in that area.

The team then moved to the city of Freeport, where Supt. Walter Henderson, officer in charge of the North-Eastern Division, says visibility is key.
