GBPA Responds to Fire at Bazaar

FREEPORT, BAHAMAS – The Grand Bahama Port Authority has engaged with operators of the International Bazaar for its continued demolition following the latest in a string of fires at the dilapidated structure.

FREEPORT, BAHAMAS – The Grand Bahama Port Authority has engaged with operators of the International Bazaar for its continued demolition following the latest in a string of fires at the dilapidated structure.

In a statement Wednesday, GBPA President Ian Rolle saying the Port has also engaged the government in advance discussions for the approval of amendments of the building and sanitary bylaws, which would enable the Port to execute more demolitions in a timely manner and recoup the associated costs.

The statement continuing that the Port has never owned any part of the International Bazaar but has historically subsidized it for many years.
