UNITED STATES – Gold futures surged to a record high Tuesday, breaking the four-thousand dollar mark for the first time.

Investors are flocking to the precious metal as a safe haven amid growing economic turmoil in the United States. Prices have climbed nearly 50 percent since the start of the year, fueled by President Donald Trump’s trade wars, rising tariffs, and the ongoing government shutdown.

The spike comes as federal workers remain furloughed, key economic data is delayed, and confidence in the U.S. economy continues to slip.

Analysts say strong central bank demand and escalating global conflicts in Gaza and Ukraine are also pushing gold prices higher.
