NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The Prime Minister insists his administration is multitasking and fully capable of ensuring the reconstruction of Grand Bahama’s Airport.

Back in May, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism Chester Cooper projected a new airport will reopen in 2025.

A new request for proposal was issued in April, in search of a partner to rebuild the airport which sustained $60 million worth of damage during Hurricane Dorian in 2019.

Prime Minister Davis explains while negotiations for the sale of the Grand Lucayan Hotel are ongoing, the airport is also being discussed.

“We are also working assiduously that the airport, the gateway to Grand Bahama, is also in that mix. We’re not just leaving the airport aside to get that done,” Davis says.

“In Opposition, you would have heard me saying and speaking to the fact that for Grand Bahama to move on, there has to be a holistic approach.”

Davis says the Grand Lucayan Hotel cannot just be sold, without understanding where airlift is coming from.
