Govt. Reviewing Gas Retailers’ Proposal
NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The government is reviewing a proposal by the Bahamas Petroleum Retailers Association, to look for a solution along the supply chain that will satisfy the industry’s plight.
NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The government is reviewing a proposal by the Bahamas Petroleum Retailers Association, to look for a solution along the supply chain that will satisfy the industry’s plight.
Economic Affairs Minister Michael Halkitis revealed Tuesday, the BPRA met with the Prime Minister and officials from the Ministry of Economic Affairs to come up with a solution.
While he says government is sympathetic to the plight of gas retailers, government is “not minded to do something that would directly lead to increase in prices at the pump.”
As a result of that meeting, Halkitis says government is reviewing a proposal by the retailers to bring some changes.
Last week gas retailers said they are requesting a change in the margin which dictates the level of profits they earn which is currently 54 cents on a gallon of gasoline.
