GUYANA – Guyana has warned foreign employers to prioritize hiring qualified nationals, per the local content act.

The local content secretariat reminded contractors, sub-contractors, and licensees of their obligations in letters this week, emphasizing the need for training Guyanese nationals who have the necessary qualifications but lack experience.

The secretariat says it will conduct audits to ensure compliance, requiring evidence that guyanese nationals are considered for new and vacant positions, receive equal benefits, and are offered training to overcome experience gaps.
