Guyana Senior Citizens Welcome $20K Annual Transportation Allowance

GUYANA – Guyana set to roll out a senior citizens’ allowance, tomorrow, July 8th.

The 20,000 Guyanese dollars allowance, which was introduced in the 2026 national budget, is intended to help senior citizens meet their transportation expenses.

The Minister of Human Services and Social Security said the ministry has designed the process to ensure it is simple and convenient for pensioners across the country.. Confirming pensioners can receive the allowance in person or via direct deposit.

The allowance is in addition to a universal old-age pension of $46,000 monthly.
