HAITI – Haiti’s government has declared three days of national mourning, with flags flown at half-staff across the country, after 25 people died in a crowd surge at a premier historic site in northern Haiti.

The government will also cover funeral costs for the victims.

The announcement came after an emergency cabinet meeting led by the nation’s prime minister, as the country continues to absorb the scale of the tragedy that unfolded on April 11.

Officials described the move as a gesture of solidarity with grieving families.
