NEW YORK – Head of Haiti’s transition council Edgard Leblanc Fils expressed gratitude at the UN General Assembly for the support shown to Haitian migrants, particularly in Springfield, Ohio.

This follows baseless claims by Republican candidate Donald Trump and his VP nominee JD Vance, alleging migrants in Springfield were eating cats and dogs.

Despite repeated denials from local officials, Trump has doubled down, even suggesting deportation.

Most of the 15,000 Haitian Americans in Springfield are legally in the U.S., but the town has faced bomb threats since the claims.
