FREEPORT, GRAND BAHAMA – The University of The Bahamas wrapping up day three of its sustainable Grand Bahama webinar.

Minister of Economic Affairs, Michael Halkitis, was the keynote speaker in today’s final session. He says he is hopeful the magic of Grand Bahama can be reclaimed.

Minister Halkitis says one of the most powerful things about Grand Bahama is its rich potential for diversification, noting that there are many industries that can be developed on the island.

Now, the minister says the continued digitization of government processes for increased efficiency and effectiveness is at the top of this government’s agenda.

Halkitis says while diversifying the economy, diversification of opportunities beyond the current Nassau-centric development model is also key.

He says that includes treating domestic and Bahamian investors with the same respect extended to foreign direct investors.
