NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A giant in the religious community is being remembered by his religious colleagues after he died suddenly over the weekend.

The Christian family in The Bahamas is mourning the passing of Reverend Doctor Lloyd Smith.

Lloyd, who was the serving president of The Bahamas Baptist Missionary and Educational Convention, allegedly collapsed in a bathroom at his church during a service and was later rushed to hospital where he died.

Bahamas Christian Council President Bishop Delton Fernander says despite being successful outside the church, Smith was fully devoted to ministry.

Also paying tribute was Zion Baptist Church Pastor Reverend TG Morrison. He says while Smith’s untimely passing is a shock to the Baptist community, the church will press on.

Dr. Smith’s death ends his period as pastor of the Mount Horeb Baptist Cathedral in Sandy Port where he served for 21 years.

Morrison and Fernander leave these encouraging words to his family and congregation.
