LOS ANGELES – On NBA opening night, Buddy Hield and the Golden State Warriors came away with a 119-109 road victory over Deandre Ayton the Los Angeles Lakers in Los Angeles.

Hield lit it up off the bench for 17 points in just 22 minutes, going 6-11 from the field and 5-10 from beyond the arch.

Late in the third, Hield drained back-to-back threes to extend the Warriors’ lead and spark a 19-4 run to start the third.

Ayton had 10 points and six rebounds in his season debut, shooting 5-7 from the field, but like every Laker not named Doncic, he struggled to impact the game at the level he expected.

Up next the Warriors return home to host the Denver Nuggets on Thursday night while the Lakers face the Minnesota Timberwolves on Friday.

Basketball

We’ve all been there in the backyard – fake clock winding down – you hit the big shot and the fake crowd goes wild. Dominick Bridgewater just lived that dream in pro basketball.

In France’s NM1 League, Bridgewater turned heads yesterday with the game-winning jumper as time Expired to lead his Forsurmer Byers to a 94-92 win over Besançon.

It was more than just that clutch moment, Bridgewater finished with 23 points, four rebounds and four assists.

On the season, he’s averaging 18.7 points and 3.3 assists per game as he helps lead the Byers to a five-game win streak and a 6-1 record, second place in group B.
