NASSAU, BAHAMAS – After years of building a multimillion-dollar empire in the gaming industry, businessman and Island Luck CEO Sebas Bastian says he’s ready to serve in a new capacity, public service.

Bastian confirmed he is prepared to step away from his business interests as he pursues a political career, seeking the Progressive Liberal Party’s (PLP) nomination for the Fort Charlotte constituency in the upcoming 2026 General Election.

“Are you willing to step down? Absolutely. That’s a done deal,” Bastian told reporters when asked whether he’d leave his gaming empire to enter politics.

Bastian appeared before the PLP’s Candidates Committee at Gambier House on Thursday, officially making his case to represent the party in Fort Charlotte. He said his businesses are in capable hands, allowing him to focus on national service.

“I didn’t build my businesses by myself. I have more than competent teams to ensure continuity. I’m here to serve. I have a higher purpose now, and I’m going to focus on that,” he said.

Arriving at PLP headquarters surrounded by family, friends, and supporters dressed in gold and blue, chants of “We going higher” echoed through the crowd.

Local supporters praised Bastian’s leadership and innovation.

“He’s a great man, an innovator, and I think he would be the best person to replace Mr. Sears in the Fort Charlotte community,” said constituent David Brown.

Fort Charlotte Branch Chairman Delores Archer confirmed that Bastian has the full backing of the local PLP executive, noting that he secured majority support from branch members.

“It was no more than fitting. He’s already done so much for Fort Charlotte. I think he has an excellent plan for national development, including this community,” Archer said.

If elected, Bastian says he plans to build an “Impact Center” focused on innovation, technology, and trades, along with expanding affordable housing initiatives.

“We’re going to build the Impact Center, which will be the cornerstone of teaching innovation, new technologies, and trades. Affordable housing is also on the agenda for Fort Charlotte,” Bastian shared.

Bastian’s bid marks a significant shift for one of The Bahamas’ most prominent entrepreneurs as he steps into the political arena.
