JAMACIA – Jamaica’s opposition People’s National Party is urging the government to protect public sector contract workers by ensuring they are treated equitably in the new compensation system.

Opposition spokesperson on Finance and Public Service, Julian Robinson, noting in a statement on Tuesday that a new compensation system by the Ministry of Finance will see some contract workers in a worse position than their colleagues, calling the practice discriminatory and unfair.

The opposition also noting with just five days left before Christmas, many public sector workers still have not received their salaries, urging the government to do better.
