BROOKLYN, NEW YORK – Jonquel Jones got in 18 minutes of action as the champs made their pre-season debut against her former team, the Connecticut Sun. JJ scored 7 points on 3 of 6 shooting, grabbing 3 rebounds, and dishing out a couple of assists as the Liberty fell 94-86.

Rebekah Gardiner had 11 points and 4 rebounds in 18 minutes to lead the Liberty.

Tina Charles led the Sun with 17 points and 6 rebounds.

Major League Baseball

Antoan Richardson and the New York Mets continue to be one of the hottest teams in baseball. The Bahamian-born first base coach and the squad from queens beat up on the Chicago Cubs 7-4.

The Mets feasted at the plate with Francisco Lindor, Jeff McNeil, Bret Baty, and Juan Soto all leaving the yard in the win.

Over in the minors, BJ Murray went 2-4 with a single and a double as his Knoxville Smokies beat the Chattanooga lookouts 3-0.

Kristian Robinson went 1-2 with a single and a couple of walks. He scored 2 runs from the leadoff spot as his Amarillo sod poodles lost to the Tulsa Drillers 6-4.

And Sebastian Walcott 0-3 but he got on with a walk and scored a pivotal run to help his Frisco Roughriders beat the San Antonio Missions 4-3.
