UNITED STATES- Jonquel Jones and the New York Liberty are now on the brink of elimination after falling to the Atlanta Dream 101-98 in overtime in Game Two of the WNBA semifinals.
Jones had 21 points, eight rebounds and four blocks, but the Liberty could not close out a game that featured 17 lead changes and eight ties.
Breanna Stewart led New York with 35 points, 11 rebounds and six assists, while rookie Marine Fauthoux provided a huge spark off the bench with 20 points.
Fauthoux hit a three-pointer with just over 10 seconds left in regulation to tie the game at 88 and force overtime.
Atlanta then took control in the extra period, with Naz Hillmon hitting the go-ahead layup with 20.8 seconds left.
Jordin Canada and Angel Reese led the Dream with 23 points each, while Reese also had seven rebounds and eight of Atlanta’s 13 overtime points.
The Dream won despite playing without Allisha Gray, who missed the game with a left hand injury.
New York now trails the best-of-five series 2-0, with Game Three Friday in Brooklyn.
The Liberty must win to keep their season alive, as no WNBA team has ever come back from a 2-0 deficit in a best-of-five semifinal series.
MLB
The 2026 MLB postseason has come to an end for both Bahamians Jazz Chisholm Jr. and Antoan Richardson.
Chisholm and the New York Yankees were swept by the Tampa Bay Rays, losing Game Three 4-3 at Yankee Stadium to end their ALDS run.
He was benched for the elimination game after going hitless through the first two games and making a throwing error in Game Two.
Anthony Volpe started at second base in his place, but Chisholm entered as a pinch hitter in the seventh inning.
He popped out in his first at-bat and was booed by the Yankee Stadium crowd.
Chisholm later reached on a fielder’s choice in the ninth and stole second as the potential tying run, but he was left stranded as the Rays closed out the series.
The loss ended a disappointing ALDS for Chisholm, who went hitless in the series and finished the 2026 regular season with a .231 average, 19 home runs and 41 stolen bases.
Meanwhile, Antoan Richardson’s Atlanta Braves were eliminated by the Los Angeles Dodgers, losing Game Four 4-1 to drop the series three games to one.
Richardson, in his first season as the Braves’ first base and baserunning coach, helped Atlanta reach the NLDS after its win over Philadelphia in the Wild Card round.
The Braves took a 1-0 lead in Game Four, but the Dodgers responded with a seventh-inning, two-run single from Andy Pages before Max Muncy added a ninth-inning home run.
Atlanta was held to just three hits and finished the series one-for-23 with runners in scoring position.
The Dodgers advance to the NLCS for the third straight season, while both Bahamian connections now turn their attention to the offseason.
NBA
Buddy Hield has officially made his debut with the Chicago Bulls.
Hield came off the bench and played just under 15 minutes as Chicago beat the Phoenix Suns 124-117 in its preseason opener at the United Center.
The 33-year-old veteran finished with eight points, two rebounds, three assists and a steal.
Hield shot two-for-six from the field, including one-for-three from three-point range.
The Bulls trailed by 11 after the first quarter, but turned the game around and outscored Phoenix in each of the final three quarters.
Hield is entering his 11th NBA season and was acquired by Chicago from Charlotte just days before training camp.
The Bulls are now 1-0 in the preseason under new head coach Tiago Splitter.
