NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Labour Minister Keith Bell hitting back at former Minister of State for Finance Kwasi Thompson on controversy surrounding unemployment statistics.

Following a labour survey released on Friday, Thompson told a local daily this year’s 8.8% unemployment rate, which is the lowest for 15 years is no cause for celebration as the workforce has seemingly shrunk since the last survey.

Bell is calling Thompson’s comments misleading.

Bell says while the Davis administration has been able to lower the unemployment rate in a shorter period of time, there is the concern that some 18,000 people have left the workforce.
