GRAND BAHAMA, BAHAMAS – Founder of the Mammogram Access Program, also known as MAP, Nikeia Watson, says she’s been receiving calls alerting her to difficulties within the public sector as it relates to access to mammogram screenings.

The “Be Proactive” Campaign was launched to help ensure that vulnerable groups have equitable access to breast cancer screenings.

Now while this campaign may be launching early by some standards, Watson says her goal is to take Breast Cancer Awareness out of the month of October raising awareness year-round.

Watson says she is grateful to all sponsors that have helped to kick off the first round of screenings however, the need remains great.

Another crucial goal of MAP is to revitalize mammogram screening rates in the northern Bahamas.

Watson breaks down the cost of an average screening.
