Man Arraigned for Deadly Double Shooting on Christmas Eve

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A 30-year-old man arrested following a double shooting that left a man dead on Christmas Eve has been charged.

Nelson Major, of Charles Vincent Street, stood before Acting Chief Magistrate Roberto Reckley facing murder and attempted murder charges.

Prosecutors say that Major, who was riding a motorbike, opened fire on the occupants of a white van in the area of Balfour avenue and Ida Street while chasing them.

The chase ended in Montell Heights, where police nabbed Major.

The van’s passenger, Torvaz Dames, died and the driver Cardicyn Collie, was injured.
Major didn’t have to enter a plea to the charges at his initial court appearance.

Bail was denied and he’d next back in court on April 11.
