NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Police have arrested and charged a man with the death of a three-month-old baby.

Twenty-nine-year-old Kirkwood Thompson is behind bars after being charged with manslaughter in the January 16th death of Teniesha Milfort.

Thompson is the boyfriend of the child’s mother. Prosecutors say Thompson was babysitting Teniesha when she became unresponsive.

She was pronounced dead at the hospital on the same day.

Police arrested Thompson after doctors noticed injuries on the baby’s face.

Thompson didn’t have to enter a plea to the manslaughter charge when he appeared before Magistrate Algernon Allen today.

He returns to court on March 9 to receive a voluntary bill of indictment that will fast-track his case to the Supreme Court.

In the interim, his lawyer Ryszard Humes is expected to seek bail in the Supreme Court.
