Man Arraigned for Sexual Assault of a Minor
NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A 65-year-old man has been arraigned for sexually assaulting a 12-year-old girl.
NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A 65-year-old man has been arraigned for sexually assaulting a 12-year-old girl.
Calvin Sweeting Sr, of Mangrove Cay, Andros, appeared before Magistrate Shaka Serville charged with unlawful sexual intercourse and indecent assault.
The charges stem from an alleged incident at the minor’s home on July 28, 2022.
Sweeting, who is represented by Ian Cargill, did not have to enter pleas to the charges.
The matter was adjourned to November 15 for the presentation of a voluntary bill of indictment, which will fast-track the case to the Supreme Court.
In the meantime, Sweeting was remanded to the Bahamas Department of Correctional Services.
He will remain there unless he is granted bail by a Supreme Court judge.
