NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A man who robbed two children of their innocence by forcing them to have sex and exposing them to child pornography has been sentenced to five years in prison, the maximum sentence for cruelty to children.

Justice Jeanine Weech-Gomez described Danis Cezalien’s crimes as sordid and disturbing.

The 31-year-old will receive credit for the two years and 10 months he’s spent on remand, and as a result he has two years and two months remaining on his sentence.

In January 2020, Cezalien forced a six-year-old boy and seven-year-old girl he was babysitting to have sex while they were on a beach.

In August 2021, while watching the children at a home, Cezalien forced them to watch pornography.

Cezalien is awaiting sentencing in another court for the rape of a 25-year-old woman in 2023.
