NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The man who shot two people, killing one of them while leaving the other permanently maimed, was today sentenced to 35 years in prison.

Justice Jeanine Weech Gomez sentenced Donté Deveaux for the may 2, 2022 murder of Emmanuel Brown and the attempted murder of Samuel “Fish” Joseph after he was found guilty of the offenses last November.

Both men were at an unfinished building in seventh street, the Grove when they were allegedly shot multiple times by Deveaux.

According to the evidence, Brown identified Deveaux as the shooter to the first policeman on the scene.

Joseph, who lost sight in one eye as a result of the shooting, also named Deveaux as the shooter, saying he’s known him all his life.

For his part, Deveaux denied the allegations and claimed that he was at his girlfriend’s home in Chippingham.
