NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A man accused of stabbing and killing a corrections officer and injuring two others is behind bars facing murder and attempted murder charges.

Michael Petty, 21, of Pinewood Gardens, is accused of fatally stabbing trainee corrections officer Ashantio Johnson during a November 5 altercation at the Blue Ice Lounge on Baillou Hill Road.

Prosecutors allege that Petty stabbed Perry Butler and Gregory Bullard during the incident.
An off-duty policeman shot Petty outside of the club, grazing him to the head.

Petty didn’t have to enter pleas to the charges when he stood before Chief Magistrate Roberto Reckley.

He was denied bail and is next back in court in February to receive voluntary bill of indictment papers.
