NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A 27-year-old man is facing a manslaughter charge after a fatal shooting on January 21.

Police arrested and charged Anthon Sturrup in relation to the shooting death of Lavardo Fernander.

Prosecutors said Sturrup was clearing an air rifle at the back of a home on Faith Avenue South when it went off.

Fernander, his coworker, was shot in the upper body, and died on the scene.

Sturrup, of Union Village, was not required to enter a plea to the charge when he appeared before Magistrate Kendra Kelly on Friday.

Bail was denied.

He’s next due in court on March 15 to receive voluntary bill of indictment papers.
