NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A man already on bail for a 2021 murder has been denied bail by the supreme court.

Doobensky Antoine faces two counts of attempted murder following the August 25th shooting.

Police allege he opened fire after an argument at a bar, injuring Demetrius Sands and Ruben Travis Brice.

At the time, Antoine was on bail in connection with the September 2021 shooting death of Maurice Fox Jr. on Theodora Lane.

He had been granted bail due to delays in bringing that case to trial.

In his latest application, his attorney cited Antoine’s longstanding ties to The Bahamas, including his schooling and previous employment.

However, prosecutors opposed his release, citing the seriousness of the charges and his lack of valid immigration status.

Justice Renae Mckay found that Antoine was a flight risk and that proposed bail conditions would not adequately secure his attendance at trial.
