NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A man, recently released from The Bahamas Department of Corrections on bail, is the country’s latest homicide victim after being shot on Thursday night.

Police Press Liaison Chief Superintendent Chrislyn Skippings said the incident occurred through Eighth Street just after 7:30pm.

“Officers were on routine patrol when they were alerted by bystanders that a man was shot,” she told the press.

“Officers made a check and found a man with multiple gun shot injuries to the body. Our initial reports thus far indicate that a white vehicle with two men came on to Eighth Street, exited their vehicle, approached the victim and shot him multiple times about the body. EMS responded and confirmed that there were no signs of life.”

Skippings also confirmed that the victim is known to police and was recently released from prison.

“He was being electronically monitored and on bail for possession of a prohibited weapon,” she said.

Investigations into this matter continue.
