ACKLINS, BAHAMAS – And away we go, sailing into a day packed with fly-fishing adventures! Reno Taylor, a true islander through and through, feels just as at home on the sandy shores as he does in the tranquil waters.

Reno, the master of the cast, has spent over a decade perfecting his craft as a professional fly fisherman and even whips up his own irresistible bait.

And reaching this pinnacle is something he says he’s proud to share with anglers who come from far and wide to experience the allure of Acklins.

But before we could reel in the big ones, we had to master the virtue of patience – or as anglers call it, the art of fly fishing.

Lesson learned, now it’s time to hunt for the elusive catch.

Our hours-long quest didn’t net us a single catch, but with Mother Nature calling the shots, the bonefish were lounging in the mangroves. No fish this time, but it’s just another reason to come back. However, we did manage to squeeze in a lesson for my cameraman Richard Ferguson.

And trust me, we couldn’t even come close.
