UNITED STATES – Meta is set to build the world’s longest undersea cable with its new project, Waterworth.

Spanning 50,000 km, Meta says the cable will connect the US, India, South Africa, Brazil, and other regions, boosting connectivity and supporting Meta’s growing AI ambitions.

The cable, using a high-capacity 24 fibre-pair system, reportedly aims to drive digital inclusion and economic cooperation across five continents.

Meta says it will use advanced burial techniques to protect the cable from hazards, avoiding major geopolitical hotspots.
