UNITED STATES- Bahamian national team guard Franco Miller Jr. made an impressive first impression in China, scoring 20 points in his debut with the Ningbo Rockets.

Miller added four rebounds and six assists in the preseason matchup against Beijing, though Ningbo fell 95-82.

The 27-year-old is coming off his first NBA G League season with the Santa Cruz Warriors, where he averaged 9.1 points, 3.1 assists and 2.8 rebounds in 29 games.

Miller also shot 28.7 percent from three-point range and finished the season in style, exploding for a career-high 35 points, including seven three-pointers, in his final game against the Texas Legends.

Now, the Bahamian guard takes his game to the Chinese Basketball Association, looking to build on that professional experience with Ningbo.

UB Mingoes Volleyball

Two days after laying teammate Daphaney Maxine to rest, the University of The Bahamas Mingoes women’s volleyball team returned to the court and opened its 2026-2027 NPVA campaign with a three-set sweep of the Johnson Hornets.

UB won 25-20, 25-20 and 25-18 at the D.W. Davis Gym, with Maxine’s number 14 jersey draped on the bench in her memory. The team plans to keep the jersey there throughout the season.

Assistant Coach Shanayhah Bowe said the victory meant a great deal to the players as they continue to cope with the loss of their teammate.

Captain and setter Zarria Rose helped UB close out a tight first set with five straight points before the Mingoes controlled the second and third sets to secure the sweep.

UB returns to action Sunday, October 18, against the Aces at 4:30 p.m. at the D.W. Davis Gym.
