NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Mixed reaction on social media as the 50th independence anniversary logo was revealed in Parliament Square, Thursday night.

Devante Butler, Durelle Williams and Kerstin Pinder were the three finalists selected to create the 50th independence anniversary logo.

But how do Bahamians feel about it?

On Twitter, one person said, ” Out of 10, I give it 4 1/2. I really expected more”

Another tweet said, “This was due midnight and at 11:59 they add the flamingo.”.Another said: “Ine ga lie the flamingos come outta left field.”

These memes emerged – one showing the departure lounge at Lynden Pindling International Airport and the other with Kevin, the infamous bird from the Saxons Boxing Day Junkanoo parade showcase.

But it wasn’t all bad. One follower said, “I like it, but it seems basic.”

A poll of our Twitter, Facebook and Instagram followers revealed 63 of 100 voters on Twitter said they did not like the logo.

On the other hand, 60- percent of our Instagram voters like the logo.
