NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A mother and her son are dead following a brazen daylight shooting in the Kemp Road community. As the country’s murder count rises, police say a manhunt is underway for the suspect.

A family member visibly shaken up, as others looked on while police conducted initial investigations into a double homicide, Friday.

It was shortly before 10am when police were called to the scene on Sutton Street off Kemp Road. Police Press Liaison, Chief Superintendent Chrislyn Skippings says the man was pronounced dead on the scene, while the woman transported to hospital by private vehicle where she died of her injuries.

Family member McDonald Cartwright confirmed the victims as his aunt, Berndatte Tynes affectionately known as Labba, and her son, Bertram McPhee, also known as Bookie.

Police identifying the suspect as 38-year-old Kevon Brown of #50 Blatic Avenue, who was on bail for murder.

Police say his last known whereabouts was in eastern New Providence.
