NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The woman who has accused North Abaco MP of rape, assault and threats of death approached police about withdrawing her complaint while the matter was under investigation, a Supreme Court jury heard.

Prosecutors say the woman, who once dated Kirk Cornish, later had a change of heart and decided to proceed with the matter.

Superintendent Nicholas Johnson made the revelations during his testimony at Cornish’s trial.

Johnson said that he questioned Cornish about the allegations and later charged him after he received instructions from the DPP’s Office.

The physician claimed that Cornish poked her in her eye and choked her before he threatened to shoot her on January 20, 2023.

Cornish is accused of raping the woman on March 5, 2023, while in New Providence after he allegedly threatened her with a knife.

On April 4, 2023, Cornish is accused of raping the woman at her home in Cooper’s Town, Abaco.

The trial continues before Justice Renae McKay on Friday.

Cornish is represented by Tai Pinder-Mackey and Lilnique Murphy. Timothy Bailey and Tabitha Frazier are the prosecutors.
