NASSAU, BAHAMAS – After a few quiet weeks in the capital, the peace was shattered by a triple shooting Wednesday evening.

Police on saturation patrol in Yellow Elder heard the gunshots around 5:30 pm.

Police say a group of men were sitting on a wall through Nicholls Court when a black Japanese vehicle drove past the men, the car’s passenger opening fire.

Here’s Police Press Liaison Chief Superintendent Chrislyn Skippings with more information.

One man died on scene, the other fled to the Grove Street Police Station where he also passed away.

And here’s where the story gets bizarre, a suspect showed up to the hospital with gunshot wounds but fled before he could be arrested.

Back at the scene, last evening was a visibly shaken member of parliament for the Mount Moriah constituency McKell Bonaby.

However he did have this to say.

Mandel Miller, who works with The Bahamas Drug Council, is also a resident of the area.

He’s calling for more to be done as the violence is tearing communities apart.
