NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A murder suspect has lost a bid to exclude the testimony of an anonymous witness at his trial.

Bruce Colebrooke’s lawyer, Keod Smith, argued that his constitutional right to a fair trial would be breached if he could not confront his accuser.

Colebrooke, who is on bail, is facing a retrial for the 2012 murder of Aboyami Sargent at Christie Park.

However, Senior Justice Cheryl Grant-Thompson ruled that Colebrooke could still have a fair trial.

Prosecutors intend to call a witness, whose identity will be shielded from the defendant. The witness’ voice will also be altered.

However, the judge and jury will be permitted to see the witness.
