NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Ongoing industrial action by the Trade Union Congress (TUC), crippled the healthcare system yesterday and impacted several other government agencies.

As members of the 14 affiliate unions in New Providence and Grand Bahama took a “rest day” according to President Obie Ferguson.

And it looks like that action could go into day three but not everyone agrees with the move.

National Congress of Trade Union Bahamas Dwayne Woods, says it’s time for those workers to get to back work.

The action came after months of escalating tension between the unions and the Davis administration.

And nearly four years after the TUC signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the opposition Davis-led PLP.

The NCTUB signed that same agreement in 2021, but is singing a different tune.

An apparent breakdown in communication, between Prime Minister Philip Davis, and TUC President Obie Ferguson.

Ferguson, denying that he ever met with the Prime Minister, after Davis, said that he was supposed to meet with the unions at 2pm on Monday.

Woods says his union has a different experience.
